Imperial Tobacco transforms its supply chain model into a Direct-To-Store sales model, saving nearly $3 million

When faced with significant regulatory obstacles, Imperial Tobacco undertook a complete supply chain transformation, changing its previous wholesaler-driven distribution model to a direct-to-store sales model.

Ryder and Imperial Tobacco teamed up to design and build a complete order fulfillment and supply chain management solution for the delivery of goods to more than 30,000 retail location across Canada. The network includes 6 distribution centers, 20 warehouse and cross dock facilities, and 220 high-security vehicles deployed across North America. Ryder’s solution includes the electronic capture of proof of deliveries at the precise moment retailers receive the product.

Our solutions have enabled Imperial Tobacco to gain direct control of the retailer experience, synchronize production with demand, and dramatically reduce their order-to-cash cycle time.
